I recently went to my favorite garden center to check out their pumpkins. Ever since I found out that there are specific pumpkin/squash varieties best for cooking and baking certain pastries, I have been trying out different ones every fall season. One thing I struggle with when picking the right pumpkin is identifying which ones are which since some can look identical to one another, kinda like with mushrooms. I’ve been on the hunt for a specific pumpkin called long island cheese. I read it’s good for pies and pastries because of its flavor and I’m pretty sure I finally found one!!
The overall flattened shape I saw online is not very prominent on this pumpkin but what made me feel sure was seeing the top center body being more concaved. I also asked chatgpt and he said he’s 90% sure which made me have 100% trust after that. 😅
Although after researching its doppelganger named new england cheddar, I am a bit skeptical whether it is the right pumpkin. It says both are good for pies, but I can’t help but wonder! (to be continued..)
